Backnang, 28 May 2024 – TESAT announced today it has been selected to deliver 792 Optical Communication Terminals (OCT) by MDA Space Ltd. (TSX:MDA), a leading provider of advanced technology and services to the rapidly expanding global space industry, as part of the company’s supply chain for MDA AURORA™, a game-changing product line driving the transition from analog to digital satellite technology.
Backnang, 30 April 2024 - TESAT and MPB Communications took an important milestone to a new performance level of optical LEO to GEO data relays: The companies successfully demonstrated a 100 Gigabit per second (Gbps) data transmission at 40 W optical output power over a distance of more than 45,000 km in a laboratory environment at MPB Communications' optical labs in Montreal, Canada.

TESAT’s Optical Communication Terminals successfully passed Interoperability Testing for the Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Tranche 1 Transport Layer.
In 2020, ESA and TESAT launched a development programme to improve the functionalities and design of MPMs. This programme laid the foundation for the final design and qualification process for the Quad-MPM.
The ESA- and EC-supported EAGLE-1 LEO satellite will be equipped with innovative security features developed by TESAT, Europe’s leading laser communication technology company.

Tesat-Spacecom recently completed the Preliminary Design Review (PDR) of their Optical Communication Terminals (OCTs) for satellites as part of Space Development Agency’s (SDA) Tranche 1 Transport Layer (T1TL). Lockheed Martin, a prime contractor for the agency’s tranche 0 (TLT0) and TLT1 satellites, and the SDA were on site at TESAT for the review.
