Backnang, 09 April 2024 - Just a year after announcing the establishment of a US company to support military and commercial programs, TESAT Government completed construction of its facility in Merritt Island, Florida.
The facility will serve as an American final assembly, integration and testing hub for TESAT Government’s Optical Communication Terminals (OCTs) that service a range of government customers. Its completion marks an important milestone of the satellite equipment manufacturers progress towards a domestic supplier of OCT equipment.
“The demand for evolving satellite communications technology has never been greater, and this facility positions TESAT Gov. to deliver OCTs that are specifically tailored for a range of US government and national security space missions,” said Justin Luczyk, Managing Director, TESAT Government. Luczyk added: "We are excited to be part of the Merritt Island community and to contribute to the local economy by creating new jobs and supporting local businesses."
“TESAT Government is our answer to the request from our US customer base to develop and produce US based solutions. On top, we have already extended our capacity for serial production of the OCT product family SCOT30/80/135/ICOT at our site in Backnang, Germany. With our smart product approach, we can serve finally all orbits with one product family and can guarantee safety and security of US government needs by delivering the basic kits for final assembly, development and testing in the US. At the same time, we serve the satellite constellations of tomorrow. This is an important step into Next Space,” said Thomas Reinartz, CEO of TESAT.
With more than 550,000 operational hours and 80,000 successfully performed inter-satellite links, TESAT is the technology leader and premium provider for in-orbit-verified OCTs, delivering customer results since 2007. Its portfolio comprises Geostationary, Medium and Low Earth Orbit (GEO, MEO and LEO) equipment.
